Greg, who currently lives on St. Thomas
Virgin Islands, has experimented with various ways to present black and
white photographs in order to create interest as well as to enhance the
universal feelings generated by them. The dyed cloth borders, through
the mix of fabric and color amplify the impact created by the black
and white photos and in addition as softens their edges. Greg
has shown his work at many of the galleries in St. Thomas and his work
was shown at Carifesta VII, the Caribbean Festival of Arts on St. Kitts.
Much of the work produced by photographer
Greg Miller has been a result of his participation in volunteer projects
throughout the world. For the past 10 years, Greg who was trained
as a civil engineer, has been involved with a volunteer organization
called EMI Inc. EMI provides engineering and architectural services
to organizations in third world countries through the use of volunteers.
Greg as worked on elementary school projects in Borneo and Bolivia,
a hospital in India, a College in Haiti, and recently returned from a design
trip for an Agricultural Training Station in northern Zambia.
These trips provide unique opportunities for unusual photographs.
“Everywhere I have been I have met people
who are truly wonderful, often very inspiring in spite of their lack of
education, money and even the basic necessities of life.” “Meeting
them has given me a enormous feeling that all human beings are brothers
and sisters on this earth.”
